Explanations
Standards and Guidelines:
Standards and guidelines serve the purposes of rationalization, safety, environmental protection, and communication in business, technology, science, administration, and the public. Standards are not legal prescriptions; they are considered technical rules and establish clarity between suppliers and customers, facilitate design, production, and maintenance.
Nautos:
The Nautos database provides information on the most important national and international standards (DIN, EN, ISO, IEC, ITU) and technical regulations in Europe. Nautos also serves as a portal for accessing the full texts of licensed standards, technical rules, and guidelines (e.g., VDI guidelines). The database is updated monthly and offers feedback in German, English, or French concerning the following questions: Which standards and drafts are available? When were they issued or withdrawn? Which EU directives are relevant?
Technical Law Collection:
Which technical rule, legal, and administrative regulation applies to a specific matter at a specific time? Which technical legal provisions, in conjunction with standards, must and should be observed when introducing a new product to the market? The Technical Law Collection uniquely in Germany encompasses all legal regulations with a technical reference.
DGUV (UVV):
The German Social Accident Insurance is responsible for drafting and maintaining accident prevention regulations (UVV). These serve to prevent work accidents, occupational diseases, and work-related health risks. Compliance with these binding autonomous legal standards is monitored by the supervisory services of the accident insurance providers, supporting employers and employees in fulfilling their safety and health obligations.
TGL Collection:
In the former GDR, the TGLs (Technical Norms, Quality Specifications, and Delivery Conditions) were equivalent to DIN standards. All procedures, products, and technologies were regulated by the so-called "GDR Standards." The Office for Standardization, Metrology, and Inspection of the GDR (ASMW) in Berlin-Köpenick was responsible for this. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, it was integrated into the German Institute for Standardization (DIN). For repair measures or replacement investments, the TGL regulatory framework is still significant today. Since copying TGL documents is not subject to special licensing conditions, these documents are available for viewing and can be copied if needed.
