Part 5: How to Correctly List Your Affiliation
The most important rule: the name “Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg” always comes first (in English: “Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg”). This is followed—separated by commas—by the faculty, institute, or chair. Example: University, Faculty, Institute, Address, Germany. In English publications, use the corresponding translation. If there are character limitations, use “University of Magdeburg”; if an abbreviation is required, use “OVGU,” though the abbreviation should always be treated as supplementary information. Consistency is also important: always use the same spelling. This ensures that your publications are indexed correctly and can be clearly attributed to you.
