Access to Information Means Participation
On September 28th 2026 the “International Day for Universal Access to Information” served as a reminder of how essential access to reliable information is for scholarship and civic participation. At OVGU, there is a great deal behind the scenes that remains invisible in everyday life. For example, the University Library licenses literature and databases, negotiates publication contracts, and makes numerous open-access articles available at no cost to the authors. The University Library also offers expert advice on research, publication channels, and the visibility of one’s own research, and supports university members from the initial search all the way through to publication.
