Part 6: Greater Personal Visibility Through Clear Attribution (ORCID)

In addition to your affiliation, your unique identification as an author also plays an important role. This is where ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor iD) comes in: a personal, unique identifier for researchers that links your publications together regardless of changes to your name or institution. Many publishers offer the option to include your ORCID directly during the publication process. Combined with a correct affiliation, this creates a clear picture of your academic achievements. Our tip: Create an ORCID early on and use it consistently. This ensures that your research remains visible and clearly attributed to you in the long term. It also simplifies the process of providing your affiliation, as many publishers now accept the ORCID alone, from which they can extract the relevant affiliation information.
