You are new here and would like to get to know the services offered by the University Library?
On 04th December 2023 from 03:00 – 04:00 p.m. we are happy to invite you to our information event on the topic "10 Tips of the University Library". Meeting point: Foyer of the library.
You can't miss it - for around five months, a huge interior scaffolding has been erected in the area of the atrium. You can find out the background to this and information on developments at the University Library in the podcast from May this year. What has happened since then and what changes have already taken place?
The renovation of the atrium roof is progressing well. Almost a third of the area has already been fitted with new panes including photovoltaic elements. These can already be admired in some places.
Depending on weather conditions, the work will continue through the fall. The daily progress of the construction work can be observed via the webcam.
Over the past few months, print collections have been processed and moved for the interior fit-out.
On the ground floor, all of the physical course reserves as well as the printed journals and newspapers from the entire building are on display in compact form. The economics and law departments have been moved to their final location. A reading island and room-in-room solutions with meeting rooms and a parent-child room with a breastfeeding corner are being created in the vacated areas.
On the first floor, dust protection elements have already been installed for new group carrels, some of which are equipped with a "roof garden".
The Engineering Science inventory is currently being worked on and moved up so that new seating can soon be created here.
The entire mathematics and natural sciences area on the 3rd floor has been and will be arranged compactly. Medicine (formerly F/O now B.9) and Geography (formerly F/L now B.7) have also been transferred to this area. The computer science titles have been completely moved behind the natural science holdings.
As part of the inventory work, we are standardizing the shelf labels throughout the building in bilingual German and English. .
Work on the interior is currently starting and there will be more drilling, hammering and sawing over the next few weeks. We look forward to welcoming you to our building during this noisier time and are looking forward to the new workspaces, reading areas and reading islands. If you have any suggestions and/or questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.
As part of the expansion of the university library as a learning space, shelves that are no longer needed are being dismantled. We are pleased that all of the shelves have so far been reused within OVGU. In addition to the new CMD, they will be located in the University Computing Centre, workshops and Building 40.
Construction work began at the UB in May. The atrium roof is being renovated and extensive interior work is planned. Scaffolding spanning several floors has been erected inside the UB for the work.
We are very excited to continue to be open and accessible to you despite the upcoming construction changes. At the same time, this means that over the course of the next few months, you can expect restrictions, both in individual areas and in terms of the background noise in the building.
We thank you for your understanding and hope you, like us, are full of anticipation for the redesign of the UB.
End the chaos and learn how to use the literature management tool. We are expanding our course catalogue and now offer Zotero courses on a regular basis. In our hands-on course, you will use the free tool to learn how to organize and manage references. Take this opportunity to elevate your academic writing skills by mastering Zotero.
Every first Thursday (ENG) and every last Thursday (DE) of the month we offer an online introductory course on "Word for scientific work".
With the Word Introduction course, you will learn how to effectively prepare your Word document for academic writing. The course covers the basic functions of Word and how to create style sheets for your upcoming or current seminar paper or thesis.

More than 40,000 e-books from Cambdrige University Press are now available. Under an Evidence-Based Selection model, we can access the publisher's titles until the end of August 2024. After that, a selection of e-books will be permanently licensed to the university library. All titles can be accessed directly from the university's data network, including wifi, and can be found in OPAC and UBfind.
Due to a planned system change, the repository is only accessible on the university network and via VPN until further notice. Please do not hesitate to contact us at email@example.com if you have any questions.
You have probably already noticed: our shelves are currently emptier than usual in some places. Please do not be surprised. We are currently carrying out inventory work. This means that media can be found in different places than before. Please feel free to contact our colleagues at the service counters as soon as you need assistance. We thank you for your understanding.
